We’re often told to have the lives we want we must take a big leap.
I don’t buy that.
Of course, bold action is sometimes required, but more often than not, all we need is to take is the next teeny, tiny, soul-led step. Because when we do that, the next step appears, and then the next and the next after that. Before we know it – we’re where we wanted to be, all by just trusting ourselves, walking our path and following our inner guidance.
This is personal and business transformation the gentle way: no big leaps, no fear-inducing, adrenal-fatigue-causing stressful steps, no strategies that feel so wrong in our bodies. No walking someone else’s path because we just don’t trust our own. Just one tiny, aligned, from-the-heart step at a time is really all we need. As if walking down a misty path, one foot in front of the other, seeing each new step appear as we go.
We begin to see that those 10 step plans that others’ designed never really worked for us anyway. Almost as soon as we start them, we have changed, the land looks different and we need a whole new plan. All we’ve been doing is creating new plans, trying them and then quitting, and then needing to design whole new plan, over and over again. sigh.
And so, we get to step out of that cycle and just take the next best step *for us* in each moment. We drop into the present moment and into our hearts, and we know exactly what it is. We may protest that we don’t know, but we do. Deep down, we always do.
Living and working this way takes ultimate COURAGE. It asks us to be leaders and do things our way, not the way someone else tells us to. For those reasons it’s also not that popular – after all, there are thousands of people who are making a sweet income from all of our indecision and lack of self trust.
It’s A LOT EASIER even though it takes courage.. Because we no longer have to work so hard at being something or someone we’re not.
Our egos will insist that we’re getting nowhere. That we’re too slow, too inconsistent, too flaky to ever be successful by just taking one, soul-aligned step at a time. We may feel guilty that we’re not working hard enough. We may feel a bubbling internal pressure to get all the things done. All of our demons will step out of the shadows as we break these old habits.
We can acknowledge that part. Tell it in our minds that we see it, we hear it, but it doesn’t get to derail us anymore. It’s just an old thought pattern, designed to keep us safe. Nothing more, nothing less. It gets to be there, with us, and we get to take those small daily steps anyway. Our heart does the driving these days, we remind ourselves.
When we make a mistake, or something doesn’t go as planned, we can hold ourselves and know it doesn’t mean we have failed. We are learning. We are growing. Every time we try something and it doesn’t work, we get closer to something that does.
We’re walking our own path, clearing the debris as we go, no longer following someone else’s route, trying to fit our feet into the footsteps they left for us.
We’re creating our own, the leaders that we are, and with one tiny, gentle step at a time, we walk our beautiful journeys.
Taking just one tiny, aligned step at a time is the number 1 ‘strategy’ I’ve used to create a business I love, that gets great results and pays me more than my old corporate job. If it sounds simple, it’s because it is. And don’t we all want to do what we love in the simplest of ways? Yes. it REALLY DOES get to be that easy!
